Puffin brooch

I've had a few requests for a puffin brooch to go with the earrings I made last year...

So here is the little fella....made in oxidised silver he measures approx 35mm x 35mm

I hope he proves as popular as the earrings.

The other new jewellery designs I have been working on should be completed in the next couple of weeks. They will of course appear on here first! Hopefully doing some work on the shop part of my website during March as it is soooooooooooo out of date!!! Some of the items will be discontinued & lots of new things added to make it easier to add to your collections????

Commission pendant

I had a last minute commission to produce a 'pinky' colour pendant yesterday.

I've just varnished the pieces & the customer is coming in later today to select one.

The one pendant has an etched copper decorative surface & the other I've fused a silver wire onto the surface. The colour is then obtained by the heating process.

I hope the customer likes one of them?.....

SALE ENDS SATURDAY

*******SALE*******

I have decided to continue my little 'sale' at the studio until this weekend. Although it feels like it's been going on too long....because of the awful start to the year with the ice & snow I thought I'd carry on for a few more days. I'm itching to have a move around and put out my Valentine display next week.

There are still some bargains to be had... £5 items of jewellery....cards @ £1....pictures @ £10 & £25...

New jewellery patterns

Today I've been working on my new jewellery 'masters' in the bunny studio. Duke the rabbit was very happy as I had the heater in there so he probably thought it was spring!

This is the first stage of production so they are not finished yet - cleaning & filing to be done, then moulds made...

Watch this space to see more details in the next few weeks.

Sorry that the studio has been closed this week so far...
Tim will be opening tomorrow (friday) & Saturday then back to normal next week.

New jewellery designs

So yesterday I was at home again...managed not to get distracted by Ebay & did designs for some new pieces of jewellery. I'd had some rough sketches done for a while but have now finalised the designs a bit more. I find the pieces develop as you start to make them up in metal so I'm never completely sure of the final design.

I think these creatures will fit into my current ranges quite well. Frogs always seem to be a popular motif & the squirrel is just a bit bonkers! I thought the swan would be good for Worcester as we have so many on the river here. These will all be brooches but I'll also make the smaller frog design as earrings. I plan to make the puffin which I did in the autumn last year as a larger version for a brooch as I've had a couple of requests.

Watch this space for further developments....I plan to start the metal versions today.

Hookshouse Pottery : Exhibitions

I'm just finishing off sorting out the work I'm going to take to display at Hookshouse Pottery tomorrow. I have shown at this great little venue on several occasions over the post few years & it is lovely to have been asked to take part once again. I won't be there myself has Chris White looks after the work throughout the show.

Next Exhibition – ‘Hand and Eye’ - October 2009

Autumn has come round again, and we have another fine collection of work for you to enjoy. Our new exhibitors include Pamela Griffiths, with paintings of Languedoc, Pembrokeshire and the Stroud valleys, and Ian Shearman with his wonderful seascapes. Jane Smith’s sensitive creations from wood and bark are new to us too.

Old favourites Sharon McSwiney and Penny Williams will be bringing us more of their imaginative and smile-inducing metal jewellery, clocks and hangings, and the ever popular baskets of Norah Kennedy will be on show again. Wendy Batt returns with more of her prints, much enjoyed on her first visit last spring, and Terry Devereux is back after a long break with some superb studies of Venice. We also have more of Anne Rogers’ felt, simply the best there is around!

The following is a full list of exhibitors:

Wendy Batt – prints
Terry Devereux – paintings
Pamela Griffiths – paintings
Norah Kennedy – baskets
Sharon McSwiney & Penny Williams – metalwork
Anne Rogers – felt
Ian Shearman – paintings
Jane Smith –wood and bark
Christopher White – stoneware pots

h.Art starts this week!

This week we'll be putting up our exhibition at the Fold cafe 'Autumn Leaves' as part of the h.Art event this year. There will be jewellery, metalwork, glass, wood, textiles & batik work on display all with an Autumnal theme be it with colours or leafy images.

Also on Saturday I'll be showing at the Hereford Craft Market in High Town 9am - 5pm. The studio is still open as mum is there!

We are opening for the full h.Art dates:
Saturday 12th until Sunday 20th September
11am - 5pm

Our exhibition is likely to continue in the cafe into October so if you can't make it over the next few days there will still be an opportunity to view the work - as long as it hasn't all sold that is!!

If you haven't got your h.Art guide yet contact www.h-art.org.uk

There is also a local h.Art trail which has been put together by several of the artists in this area. Click on the links to view:

More Puffins!

After making a puffin necklace for a commission I have decided to put them into my jewellery range as puffins do seem to be a very popular bird, I think it's their comical expressions!

I now have earrings, cufflinks & a necklace design in production. Hopefully, after a refresher on uploading to my website this evening, they should be available to purchase via the website using paypal in the next day or so.

At the moment I am only making them in the oxidised silver as I think that finish works best on layered design. The sizes are approx. 2.5cm x 2.5cm

PUFFINS!!

One of my customers has a passion for puffins! I've created this oxidised silver puffin necklace which I think captures the character. As puffins are such cheeky little birds I'd quite like to make a collection of pieces; earrings/brooch & cufflinks.

I've also had a new delivery from Glazed & Amazed.......

New Jewellery Designs

Just completed some more of my oxidised range of jewellery.

Brooches, pendants & earrings in copper & brass with a 'bronzed effect'.

Available from the studio & space permitting at the Malvern Spring Show this May.

Etched brass applied details on to copper discs then stamped to decorate the piece further using flowers, leaves & seed pods for the inspiration.

Workshop at King's School

I held a one day introduction to jewellery & metalwork on Sunday at the King's School in Worcester. They have a fantastic art department which was a great place to hold a workshop. We had 20 participants which was a little too many especially when everyone was hammering at the same time! I think the next one will have a reduced number taking part. However everyone seemed pleased & went away either wearing a piece of jewellery or clutching a wall hanging (which I hope are now being proudly displayed???).
