Printing with Sue Brown

On Friday last week I went over to see my friend Sue Brown in her lovely garden studio in Cheltenham. Although I did not do any printing on this occasion, I've made a set of 4 'plates' to use next time. These were created using a combination of tile cement, wallpaper & pva glue! It was great just to see Sue as she is always so inspired which I hope rubs off a little on me.... I'm going back in March to have a go at printing them.

More cakes.....

Yesterday was fab at Sue's...everybody had made a real effort & there were some very imaginative creations especially the artist themed ones!

I was very lucky and allowed to take one of the printed galleon muffins home for Tim, he of course was delighted & we get to keep the printed pieces.

Hopefully this will become a regular event, although not too often as the cakes are very easy to eat!!

Fairy Cakes

Today I'm off to an ArtTea party at Sue Brown's house! Last night I spent quite a while making my edible offerings....

Although there is a lot of sugar involved in the icing the cakes are made with wholemeal flour so they are GOOD FOR YOU!

I've never really worked with icing before & it's quite tricky but I'm fairly pleased with my efforts!

Inspired by the cup cake theme... I've done a couple of card designs too:

Five at the Factory exhibition

Yesterday I spent the afternoon at Hampen Factory with Sue Brown & Carolyn Foulkes arranging the exhibition 'Five at the Factory' which is part of the
Cheltenham Art Festival & Open Studios www.cheltenhamopenstudios.org.uk
6th - 14th June 2009
Hampen is in an idyllic setting with birds & wildlife in abundance around the buildings www.hampenfactory.co.uk
It is amazing how well our work compliments each other. My verdigris panels highlight the greens in Carolyn's bird picture. Caroline's fantastic embroidered creations with leaf & spiral motifs emphasise detailing in my red & gold panels.

I really love Sue Brown's work (several pieces adorn my walls at home!), the new great tits are fab - might have fallen for those!

Lesley Maddox McNulty's head sculptures look stunning - the textures & colours really work well.
It's well worth a visit to the exhibition which is open everyday during the event
Tomorrow we are having a late evening until 8pm where all the artists will be present to discuss their work - come & join us for a glass of wine & watch the birdies!!
