The Fold consists of various designer maker studios, an eco cafe and Wholehealth. This has been evolving over the past few years with lots of exciting plans for the future. More information can be found on the website www.thefold.org.uk
Since 2002 I have worked from a studio at The Fold in Bransford Worcestershire. This was a departure from Birmingham's Jewellery Quarter from where I had a slightly scruffy workshop which was not open to the public. Now however visitors are welcome to come & see me at work as half of the space is set up as a working area and the other side as retail space.
As you can see from the picture I do not use a huge amount of tools or equipment. Most of my work is produced at my jewellers' bench, kindly made by my grandad many years ago. I usually have lots of items in progress on display as I tend to work on things in batches; also it keeps things interesting as you may work on several different projects in any one day. I also like to surround myself with visual inspiration this can include anything from quick line drawings, metal experiments, photographs, postcards and natural found objects such as feathers & pebbles.
