SPRING OPEN DAY - Sunday 4th May

I'm busy getting ready for my next show at Tiddesley Wood Nature Reserve near Pershore. It should be a great event especially if the sun continues/starts to shine!

This show has been organised by the Worcestershire Wildlife Trust who have been involved for many years, in fact this is the 22nd Spring Open Day. It is the first time I have shown my work at this venue & I'm hoping my animal & garden themed jewellery & metalwork will go down well.

Purple & Gold

I have been experimenting with colour slightly & my latest block pictures are painted a rich damson which sets of the gold of the metalwork really well I think. These pictures can be produced with any background colour to compliment your interior.

Stoneware birds

I am now stocking some wonderful life size ceramic birds in my gallery shop. These are made in Suffolk by an crafts person called Elissa Palser. Each bird is individually hand crafted, hand painted & then fired creating a unique character to each one. The range includes wrens, blue tits, great tits, chaffinches, thrushes & robins. I must admit to keeping one of the blue tits myself as I couldn't resist it!

I think I might start a collection - they look great in a group. I'm hoping there might be a gold finch added to the range as I have a pair which have decided they like the seed I'm feeding them at the studio.

Altered Book Project

I've recently become involved in an altered book project with 5 other artists. I've chosen my book after much deliberating & trawling of secondhand shops in Worcester, Pershore & St Ives! I've finally settled on an old title about 'Learning to Love your Weeds' - I thought this was very appropriate as I certainly have enough weeds on my allotment plot!

I have decided to try lots of different techniques in my book rather than stick to one - so far I've been block printing, collage using photography, embossing & stencilling. I've found lots of my old art materials including some dried up inks which I think are probably beyond saving now. It's interesting to re-visit techniques I've used many years ago.


As you can see I'm continuing with the bird theme at the moment....

SNOW!

Much excitement was felt on Sunday morning in Worcester when opening, or rather peeking out of, the curtains a covering of snow was to be seen! So rather than spending a lazy morning reading the paper etc. warm clothes were put on & out into the sunshine we went..... This is a view from Fort Royal Hill Park
